Matt's Trip to England

Matt was studying at the University of Wollongong in Australia until this year.  They offered him a trip to England to study at Sheffield University as a second year student.   We were all very pleased that he had been given this opportunity.  He was like a breath of fresh air round here.  The sun came out when he walked into the room in front of us.  If only more Australians were able to come over here to study ?

So far he's re-educated most of us and one or two people have even been seen looking around the supermarket shelves for a decent tin of kangaroo meat.  Not much chance though :-(

We were able to get him to give us a chat about networks back in March and after that we took him over to Manchester so that Manlug could have a chat to him about the chances of a similar talk in April for Manlug. We will remember his talk for a long time to come.   More about it at his web site at The University of Wollongong .  We have even been able to get him into the University of Leeds to give a talk for WYlug.  This is the Northern safe haven for Linux Users.  The place the UNIX admins go to after they die.

Well, what next ??  He's been to Wales for a holiday.  We think he saw the traditional snow and pouring rain and then came back to Sheffield for even more rain.   At least he knows what England is about by now ?  We have also asked him to do some more stuff for us.  It's a great shame that our legal system won't allow us to pay him ?

He's done some more talks for Manlug and WYlug.  We think Sheflug will remember his valuable contributions for at least another week to come.

He tells us that he leaves in August for America and won't return.  We do hope that he comes back.  Wouldn't want him to miss the next match between England and Australia would we ?  He says that after the States he goes home to complete his course.

Good on yer mate :-)
