Our Linux Demo Days were our September meeting. They were a big success. Many people visited Blackwell's at West Street and were most impressed by the help that they received. For more info about the Linux Demo Day project click here. Both Alex Hudson and myself had a great many problems coping with the large crowd that came to see our Linux computers.
We were sponsored by Caldera Systems, Red Hat, SuSE and many others. Applixware and Xi X-servers were very much in evidence. At least six different Universities were in the room at any one time and even the press and many local businesses attended our meeting. At times it was not unlike being stood in Oxford Circus in London during the rush hour.
Even the United Kingdom Unix User's Group showed interest. They sent us a large pile of promotional materials.
It was a great session and not the kind of thing that we could repeat too easily. We do hope that we will be able to do some more of this kind of thing in the future. Please do come along if we organise another one.
